Our Book of the Year

We're delighted to carry news on the Abbey website about the publication of Prof. John Rogerson's latest book, A Theology of the Old Testament - Cultural Memory, Communication and Being Human

Professor Rogerson is the generous mainstay of our guest clergy at the Abbey and we are indebted to his committment to the Christian life at Beauchief Abbey and for his lively and challenging sermons.

This latest book explores the question of how Christians should approach the Old Testament? Should we use it to reconstruct what people believed several millennia ago? Or should we ask what the Old Testament says to us today and consider how it addresses today's world? Prof. Rogerson firmly believes that we should take the latter approach and, as an internationally respected scholar, he has dedicated much of his academic life to probing the possibility of the abiding significance of the Old Testament. He shows us how texts written for a strange and distant world with different social, religious and cultural factors can still speak to moral issues today.

You can by the book online at eden.co.uk at an offer price of £15.36 including free postage.
